A slight amendment to an earlier post, we've had to revise the beer prices due to massive cost increases from the last time. But, it's still fantastic value for money.

Words of warning while booking your tickets -

Beer and other drinks are sold on site so you don't have to bring your own. Doormen will search bags and confiscate and contraband found.
A very strict under age policy will be in place so please, to save any embarrassment, remember your ID.
Security will be patrolling the area during and after the event, this includes the campsite, to insure everyone is happy and there are no problems.

Ticket prices have been set and we're still trying to keep the whole weekend really great value. Pre-booked tickets will be set at £9.00 per day if you buy them on the gate they will be £10.00.

TICKET NUMBERS ARE LIMITED AND WILL BE SOLD PURELY ON FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS.

All beers and ciders will be at a bargain of £2.00 per pint.

One month later...

Well it's been a month now since that cracking weekend and I think most of us have come out the other side fairly unscathed.

I want to say a personal thank you to everyone who made the weekend such a great one.

We've nearly finished paying everyone and sorting out the money bit and the good news is that we made a great profit. We made a profit of around £6500 of which £2500 has been donated to Cancer Research, a further £2500 is being held to go towards village projects and the remainder is being saved for, dare I say it, the next one in 2011.

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend despite the impromptu Sade concert in he campsite on Sunday night.

Wow, what a weekend. It started with sunshine on Saturday, as promised and finished with everyone jumping to the 3 Daft Monkeys.

We really hope everyone enjoyed the event. Hopefully we've made lots of money for Cancer Research and Village projects. The event was very friendly and the groups of people who came were fantastic and apart from some over exuberant campers keeping people awake the event passed without any problems.

Thanks for coming, and see you again in a couple of years.

The day

6.30 am, wind's died and sky is clear. It's going to be a great day. Yesterday everyone put in a lot of work to get the site ready. Food vans started to turn up and the beer was tapped. Stage was built, seats and tables collected.

A bit more to do this morning and we'll be there.

Campers started to arrive at around 6.00pm last night and apart from some slipping and sliding in the gateway, which has now been sorted, everything was good.

Two days to go. Lots of bear now sitting waiting to be racked and tapped, the picture only shows some. Tents are going up tomorrow.

The weather is going to be fair with Saturday forecast to be the best but Sunday will be slight cloud at times.

That's it, the easy works finished, by that I mean my day job, and the hard work starts. We know start building the bar, putting up tents and building the stage.

Just 21 days to go. Everything's in place. We've booked some great bands, which you can preview on myspace by following the links below. We've also placed an order for good whether!!! I'm sure they will deliver, they haven't let us down yet.

Remember you only have untill 14th August to get discounted tickets, after that you can still secure you ticket on the net through paypal however they will be at full price. Tickets will also be on sale at the Village Day event which is being held this Saturday on the common from 1.30pm.

Responsible Drinking.

We at the Rackenford Beer & Music Festival are committed to having great fun and we want everyone who comes to the event, whatever age, to enjoy the weekend as well.

To date we have held three very successful events without any problems. Hopefully this will be the forth.

This event attracts a lot of families with younger children so we ask everyone to drink responsibly and not to spoil the event for others.

There will be a strict policy of not serving alcohol to under age visitors on the site and juniors found drinking will firstly have the alcohol removed and could also be asked to leave the event. If you are 18+ and you are asked for ID please don't be offended, take it as a compliment.

We also advise people who travel to the event by car to bring a driver who is not going to drink. The police are aware of this event so they could be in the area. It really isn't worth the risk. If you want to have a good evening and you can't get a lift home then bring your tent and pitch it for free for the weekend.

The Campsite

The campsite has been kindly donated by a local farmer. The field is generally used for livestock so it's important that no glass is taken onto the site in case of accidental breakages.

There is no electricity or drinking water on the site. There will be a couple of port-a-loos on site.

We would also ask those late night revellers to think of the others who may have left the event earlier and keep the noise to an absolute minimum when returning to your tents.

Glastonbury act 3 Daft Monkeys, headline on Sunday evening, while Paper Heroes claim the spotlight on Saturday night. Each day provides diverse entertainment, from belly dancers to pipes and drums and Morris Dancers, as well as a host of other bands and musicians.

2009 Event

This years event is being held on the common in Rackenford over the August Bank Holiday weekend, 29th - 30th August.

As usual we will have a great array of beers, ciders and wine both local and national. Check out the list to see what's coming.

We have a great line up on stage over the two days. 3 Daft Monkeys, Broken Road, Paddy's Whiskers and Paper Heroes to name just a few.
